A Roku is a streaming device that you can use with your TV. It streams different types of media, including music, shows, and movies. You can stream whenever you want as long as your Roku is connected to Wifi. There are three Roku devices that you can use in your home. The Roku box, the Roku Streaming Stick, and the Roku TV.
The Roku Box and the Roku Streaming Stick needs an HDMI cable to connect with your TV. You also have to connect them to your Wifi in order to work. Roku TV, on the other hand, is an all-in-one streaming device that doesn’t need an external box or stick connection just to access all the channels. However, the internet connection is still required. Some TV brands that offer Roku television include Insignia, Hisense, Sharp, TCL, and Hitachi.
You can get access to over 40,000 channels when your television is connected with a Roku and these channels are both free and paid. This is a big advantage for anyone who loves watching TV in their spare time. But, how can you connect a Roku with your TV? Check the step by step guide we’ve created below.
Connect a Roku with your TV
1. Using an HDMI cord, connect the Roku player at the back of your TV. Remember where you insert your Roku player because you will need it for the setup later. On the other hand, if your Roku doesn’t have an HDMI cable, you have to buy one because it’s required.
2. Make sure that your Roku player is plugged in. When you buy one, a power cable should be included in it.
3. Turn your TV on. Go to the HDMI channel of your Roku. To go there, all you have to do is press either the Source, Input, or Video button on your TV remote.
4. A setup screen will appear. Select the language that you prefer to use and connect your TV with a Wifi network. To do this, just go to Settings and choose Network on the list of options. If your Wifi network didn’t appear on the search results, then scan it again by clicking the Scan Again button to see all available networks around. Press OK afterward. Until you locate the name of your Wifi, just scroll down through the list. When you found it, just click OK.
5. When the setup is already finished, a link code will be shown on the TV screen.
6. Get a different device. You can use your smartphone or your laptop. Open your browser and go to roku.com/link. You will be redirected to Roku’s website and will be requested to input the Activation code that has given to you earlier. Enter it on the website.
7. A login page will appear on the website once you enter the activation code. If you don’t have a Roku account, just enter your date of birth, gender, and preferred password and username to log in. You can also visit the Roku signup page if you want to activate your account first before doing the whole setup.
The Roku Home menu will now appear on your TV screen once the setup is done. This menu will help you explore and access the different channels available and the device operation of Roku as well.
