 1. In your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad, open the Find My iPhone app. As mentioned above, make sure that the device you are using is already connected or paired with your Airpods.

 2. Sign in. Use the password and username of your Apple ID.

 3. When the Find My iPhone app is open and you are already signed in to your account, the list of devices connected to this app will appear. It will be located at the bottom of the screen. Look for your Airpods’ name on the list.

 4.  Once done, the last known location of your Airpods will be shown in the Find My iPhone app. To locate it easier, a map will appear on the screen.

Other than the last known location of your Airpods, the app will also tell you what’s the status of your Airpods is. A dot will appear on your Airpods, telling if it is still charged, off, out of range, currently in use, and more. Here’s the meaning of each color of the dot.

  • Blue – The Airpods are currently in use.
  • Green – The Airpods are online and charged.
  • Grey – The Airpods are inside their case, out of batteries, off, or out of range.

You don’t have to worry if the dot on your Airpods is gray because there is still a big chance that you can find them. All you have to do is follow the map and go to the location of where your Airpods are.

When you get close to your Airpods, there is a chance that the dot will turn green, meaning the Airpods will be online again. You will get a notification that your Airpods are online again, which means you can still find them.

On the other hand, however, if you think that your Airpods don’t have batteries or it’s turned off when you misplaced them, then there’s no chance that you can find them using the Find My iPhone app.

This is because the Find My iPhone app can only tell you where is the last known location of your Airpods and not what’s currently their location. They don’t have a built-in Wifi so you won’t be able to track them.

1. In the Find My iPhone app, select the Actions tab and tap Play Sound if you still cannot find your Airpods. Doing this will make your Airpods play music or any other sound for around two minutes.

The sound it plays will get louder and louder until you press the Stop Playing button or until you found them. However, this can only work if the Airpods are just around the house and are near to any of your Apple devices. Other than that, they should also be connected to the Bluetooth to work.
